1. clothing guidelines:
Camp clothing standards are not necessarily God’s standards for modesty. We are not trying to enforce our version of modesty or condemn everything that doesn’t fit into our camp dress code. Our primary concern is with making camp about the important things: honoring God, building relationships and having fun. Reducing clothing issues and decision-making allows both our staff and our campers to do what really matters.
Guiding Principle: All clothing worn in public at camp must adequately cover the wearer. Everything from and including the shoulders down to the knees is to be concealed.
All pants must be full-length. (Pants may be rolled up but must be kept below the knees.)
Leggings, jeggings, and other tight/form-fitting pants are not permitted as outerwear.
The waistline of pants should not sag or ride low so as to expose skin or reveal underwear.
Girls may wear dresses, skirts, or capris as long as they always cover the knees (even when sitting).
Dresses and skirts must not have slits that reveal the leg above the knee.
Tank tops, tight shirts, shirts with low-cut necklines and/or large sleeve openings are not permitted.
Sleeves may be rolled up and gathered at the shoulders provided there is no gapping.
Shirts must be long enough to cover the midriff even with arms extended above the head.
Clothing with pictures and/or words must not promote unwholesome activities or thoughts.
All participants in athletic activities must wear closed-toed shoes for safety.
Shorts (Please Read Carefully):
Always err on the side of caution and only bring shorts that meet these
guidelines.
Pack a pair or two of pants in case something goes awry with the shorts you have packed.
Try on clothes shortly before camp to make sure they still fit. Growth spurts are great at ruining well-laid plans.
Given our desire to be modest at camp in a wide range of physical activities, shorts must come to the bottom of the knee while standing and no higher than the top of the knee while sitting.
Acceptable camp shorts will be hard to find. It is always acceptable to wear pants, capris pants and joggers that can be pulled up to the knee. Many campers make this choice because it is what they have or because it’s easier to find pants.
Avoid loose fitting athletic shorts “basketball shorts” that will fly up during athletic activities or when lying down.
Wearing long “basketball” shorts with longer legging style shorts underneath will be permitted as long as coverage and length meet camp dress code.
2. Grooming & Adornment:
Boys: hair should not touch t-shirt collar; no piercings of any kind
Girls: feminine hair that is longer; may wear pierced earrings but no other piercings
3. Relationships:
The forming of wholesome friendships is encouraged. However, no romantic displays of affection (including hand-holding) is permitted between campers or campers and staff.
4. Other Conduct:
A Christ-like attitude is to be maintained in all settings. Proper respect should be shown to all. Fighting, bullying, sexual harassment, profanity, vulgarity, lying, stealing, vandalism and such-like will not be tolerated.
